Base Materials

 

Fuel Materials

Any of the following or a mixture

  • PFA (pulverised fuel ash) including bottom ash and slag from coal fired power stations
  • Most types of dredged marine silts and aggregate washings that will typically contain silica / clay / organic materials. This silt may contain heavy metal contaminates which within reasonable limits can be dealt with by the RTAL Process
  • Clay extracted from building works (or clay specifically extracted for use in the process with the excavated area later used for landfill )
  • Ash from other incinerator plants
  • Sludge, i.e. from water treatment works, textile plants and other commercial processes (would usually have to be mixed with one of the above materials)
  • Mine tailings Quarry over-burden

 


Any biodegradable material which can be handled and can be either dry powdered or will slurry including

  • Sewage cake
  • Biodegradable part of MSW (Municipal garbage)
  • Carbon / slag from gasification
  • Paper pulp cake
  • Farming slurries and Chicken/turkey wastes
  • Methane gas from existing landfill sites
  • Gas from gasification process

Excess carbon from high carbon PFA, mine tailings etc.
