Trefoil Technology Ltd has granted RTAL (China) Ltd rights for The Trefoil Process in China.

The Trefoil Process has been developed by Terry Green and is used to manufacture a high quality lightweight aggregate, for use in construction, from a wide range of waste materials including sewage cake, the biodegradable part of garbage, marine silts, red mud, and a wide range of ashes.

Trefoil Technology Ltd has granted RTAL (China) Ltd rights for The Trefoil Process in China. The Trefoil Process has been developed by Terry Green and is used to manufacture a high quality lightweight aggregate, for use in construction, from a wide range of waste materials including sewage cake, the biodegradable part of garbage, marine silts, red mud, and a wide range of ashes. In 2007 RTAL HK and Trefoil bought several professors from ChongQing University to the Trefoil plant at Tilbury, Essex, UK.
Following the visit RTAL/Trefoil established a pilot plant at ChongQing University where RTAL staff (with assistance from CQ students) fired a large range of materials available in China. Test firings were also carried out on a number of European trials.
In 2012 following, the signing of a JV agreement with SDHY, the trial plant was moved to LingChu, Weifang, China. In 2013 SDHY constructed a simplified (not fully compliant to US/EU emission and Trefoil energy recovery standards) plant to demonstrate the manufacture of aggregates at a commercial scale. The combination of SDHY high quality engineering and Trefoil Technology knowledge creates a formidable team.

Each Trefoil plant is carefully designed by Trefoil Technology to suit the exact requirements of the client and the materials being used. Extensive tests are undertaken by Trefoil for every project. Trefoil will directly liaise with the client to fully understand the materials available, the potential variations and the client's specific needs. Once the plant configurations are decided Trefoil will supply process flows and mass balances to SDHY. There our The engineers will prepare detailed designs for Trefoil's final approval. There will be constant dialogue between the client, SDHY and Trefoil Technology.
All Trefoil plants are produced for the specific materials being used. Even when using basic materials like PFA and sewage cake specific trials will be carried out on the actual materials available. In many cases the materials may appear similar to others used but the way they will actually perform can vary considerably. Trefoil plants are available for sale or can be a part of a commercial agreement where waste contracts with gate fees are secured.
